Spiritual Care

Director of Spiritual Care: The Rev. John Heller, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

Spiritual Care at The Lutheran Care Center is expressed in a concern for all who are a part of our  “household” -- our residents, their families, our staff and our volunteers.

We seek to provide spiritual and emotional support in a variety of ways. On Wednesday and Sunday, Eucharistic worship services are offered in the Lutheran tradition.  Roman Catholic Mass is offered on Wednesdays. A rabbi is available on an on-call basis. Parish clergy of the residents are warmly welcomed and are encouraged to visit.
Pastoral care and counseling are offered to residents, their families and our staff. A group meets weekly for music, Bible study and prayer, so residents can express faith and to grow spiritually.
The chaplain visits our residents regularly. Consultation is provided to all departments on religious and ethical matters. Support is given in the area of palliative care, end-of-life decisions and bereavement.
